As part of a 300,000 sf expansion of a premier class A tech campus, this project aimed to create a lighting solution that would elevate the entrance experience and embody the innovative spirit of this leading technology company. The design focused on activating the street frontage and animating the main driveway with a rainbow of architectural lighting that conveys a forward-looking ethos, and provides a dynamic, welcoming atmosphere for visitors while enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the site.
DISTANCE DILEMMAS AND DESIGN DEMANDS
The expansive nature of the campus presented several design and technical challenges. Multiple lighting installations were needed along the driveway entrance, with distances ranging from 150 to 300 feet between control points, making conventional wired control impractical. The architecture’s curves and varying geometries required lighting that could be customized to integrate seamlessly into the design. Additionally, the lighting control system had to accommodate complex requirements, including dynamic scene programming, event-specific triggers, and remote access for ongoing management.
FLEXIBLE FIXES AND FUTURISTIC FEATURES
To address these challenges, over 1,500 feet of BL Neonview, a flexible, specification-grade linear LED lighting system, was installed. The product’s capability to be custom manufactured to exact lengths enabled it to follow the contours of the architectural surfaces precisely. A custom BL Controls wireless control network was developed with a single, secured physical access point in the main parking garage to manage the lighting across the expansive site, minimizing infrastructure complexity while maintaining robust performance.
Our technical team played a crucial role in configuring the lighting system. Commissioned to handle all programming, they designed a range of preset effects and customized lighting scenes to activate and animate the art feature walls. Calendar and clock triggers were integrated to adjust the lighting scheme automatically for special observances and events. A secure remote connection to the control system was established, enabling centralized management from BL Lighting’s headquarters and facilitating prompt after-sales service.
